In Oregon and Washington, if you feel you’ve been offered an unfair amount, you’ll normally have an appraisal clause in your policy that allows you to dispute their offer. The appraisal clause allows you to hire an independent auto appraiser to produce an appraisal and your insurance company will also have to hire an independent auto appraiser to produce one for them. The two auto appraisers will negotiate the value between them, if they can not come to an agreement, then an Umpire will decide which appraisal is more credible.

In Oregon, if we increase the value by one cent more than the last offer your insurance company offered you, they have to reimburse you for the cost of the appraisal.

If your claim is with your insurer, you may have the right to an appraisal if your policy
includes an appraisal provision. Your insurer must reimburse your reasonable
appraisal costs if the final appraised value is greater than the insurer’s last offer. This
provision applies to all new policyholders on or after January 1, 2010 and to current
policyholders upon the first renewal of their policy that occurs on or after January 1,
2010. Ask your claims adjuster or the Insurance Division for more information.

Lowball offers from CCC One are more common than you may think. In the case of Buratovich v. Farmers Insurance, documents obtained during discovery, reflected that Farmers Insurance had selected CCC One solely due to it’s evaluations having the lowest payout in regards to a Total Loss Claim. CCC has also recently come under fire in Georgia where consumer advocates claim they have substantially lower valuations than other companies.If your car, truck, RV, motorcycle, or other wheeled vehicle has been totaled, before you accept the insurance company’s total loss offer, you should speak to an Auto Appraiser.

Following an accident over Labor Day weekend, our RV, a 2014 Arctic Fox 992 slide-in truck camper, was declared a total loss by State Farm. This is a relatively rare model, and because we had purchased it about seven years earlier for over $30,000, we knew something wasn't right when State Farm's initial settlement offer came in at just $18,000. At the time, I was unaware of Oregon's "appraisal clause," which gives policyholders the right to invoke an independent, certified appraisal when they disagree with their insurance company's valuation of a total loss. Looking back, State Farm's valuation was, honestly, a joke. They relied on older model-year comparables, entirely different camper models, and what I later learned were "ghost listings" from thousands of miles away that I was never able to verify. To make matters worse, some of the basic details about our camper were factually incorrect. I started researching independent appraisers with RV experience and found that Ken's reviews were among the only ones that specifically mentioned experience and success negotiating RV total-loss settlements. I contacted four local appraisal companies. One took nearly three weeks just to acknowledge my inquiry, and two never responded at all. I called and left a message for Ken at Leverage Auto Appraisals and received a return call just a few hours later. Ken patiently answered all of my questions, clearly explained the process, and immediately put many of my concerns at ease. I also appreciated that Ken charges a flat fee paid upfront, whereas several other appraisers I contacted charged a percentage of your final settlement. Hiring Ken was one of the best decisions we made during this process. He was professional, communicative, incredibly knowledgeable, and kind from start to finish. Hello folks, I am writing this to help you make a proper decision on who to hire for assistance with Insurance offers after a crash. I was involved in a crash 6/27/2026 caused by a Careless young driver. He received 2 citations. He never looked until I hit him. He pulled out in front of me within 50' I was going 45mph while I was hauling my 41' 5th wheel home to trade in on a smaller unit. You cannot stop that much mass in 50'. Until I hired Ken this crash was a total disaster. My insurance company offered me about half of what my 2005 Dodge 2500 fully equipped to tow large 5th wheels. They offered $15,485 and some change far less than what it was worth. I went back and forth with the Ins company they countered with $17k the cost to replace my truck with a similar truck with same low mileage was ranging from $20k to $25K... I asked for $18. They went back and reassessed and told me the estimate came back even less and they couldn't give me $18k and that their offer of $17k was now in jeopardy! I had sent them my comparable's from all over the country. They wouldn't budge! Their comparables were not even close, a commuter truck, a worn out truck with over 1/4 million miles on it, a standard cab truck, & NONE of them had my upgrades for towing! Apples and Oranges. I did some looking, checked Ken's reviews. I talked to my neighbor in Ocean Park WA, they had a similar situation and told me about their great experience with Ken! I called Ken, called back right away, he is straight forward, easy to talk to. He also explained this would be a process and would do the best he could, and indeed he is a professional and good at his job. Do not waste your time dealing with the cheating tactics that insurance companies use. Everyone needs an expert in their corner. Leverage/Ken is that person. I am pleased with the outcome. Yes, it took a little bit of time, which Ken explained Up Front 🙂 Had I called Ken in the 1st place I could have settled sooner. Anymore regardless of fault, the only people that win after crash is the insurance companies. I remember a time if it wasnt your fault you were made whole... No more apparently. Ken Nix amazed me with his positivity and his results. Not only did he make the appraisal process quick and easy -- he also made it profitable. I love a good win-win-win! My 2017 Rav4 SE hybrid ended up being totaled after we were rear-ended. I loved that car and it only had 85k miles on it. Most of all I loved its 2 tone cinnamon interior -- very rare! State Farm's appraisal suspiciously did not use the same model car as mine and the averages just did not average out, so I contacted Ken. I can't give more than 5 stars, but i would if I could. Our 2002 ford f350 super duty with the 7.3 engine was stolen. We knew within 2 hours of it missing. Called cops, they did a report, daughters and myself flooded social media with pictures. We've lived in our town for 35 years. We owned the truck 21 years in this town. We got over 10,000 shares in 36 hours! Well truck was returned trashed! Insurance did their "appraisal" and offered us $12,108. Well we know what we had before it was stolen. I told them I would not accept their offer. So I called a personal appraiser LEVERAGE AUTO APPRAISALS out of the Portland Oregon area. Oh boy am I glad I did! Ken Nix what an amazing man.
